For a 1000cc Harley Davidson Ironhead engine, is there a modern, simpler oil system that can be used?
I am rebuilding a 1000cc Ironhead and am looking for an easier way to do the oil tank, filter and lines. Suggestions are appreciated. Its a 1980 Ironhead, Roadster model. XLS
if you follow the manual it should be quite simple to plumb your oil system. you can mount the tank anywhere (above the oil pump, that is) and there are only three lines on the tank-feed, return and drain. there are only two on the pump-feed and return. the return line should run to (through) the filter and then to the tank. if you have any questions i didn’t cover here please email me. i’d be glad to assist.
